Celebrity Gogglebox is back with a new series and some exciting new additions to the line-up. Among them are comedian Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby Kootstra, who will be sharing their views on the latest TV shows from their sofa.
Who are Katherine Ryan and Bobby Kootstra?
Katherine Ryan is a Canadian-born stand-up comedian, writer, and actress who has been living in the UK for over a decade. She is best known for her Netflix specials In Trouble and Glitter Room, as well as her appearances on panel, shows such as Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Taskmaster.
Bobby Kootstra is a former college sweetheart of Katherine’s who reconnected with her after 20 years when she was filming an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? in Canada. He is a businessman and a former professional footballer who played for clubs in Canada and Europe.
The couple got married in 2019 in a secret ceremony in Denmark and have two children together: Fred, who was born in 2020, and Fenna Grace, who was born in 2021. Katherine also has a teenage daughter named Violet from a previous relationship.
What is Celebrity Gogglebox?
Celebrity Gogglebox is a spin-off of the popular Channel 4 show Gogglebox, which features ordinary people watching and commenting on the week’s TV programs. Celebrity Gogglebox features famous faces doing the same thing, often with hilarious and insightful results.
The show started as a one-off special for Stand Up To Cancer in 2018 and has since become a regular series with four seasons so far. Some of the celebrities who have taken part in the past include Denise Van Outen, Rylan Clark-Neal, Nick Grimshaw, Martin Kemp, Stacey Solomon, and Zoe Ball.
When does Celebrity Gogglebox start?
The new series of Celebrity Gogglebox will start on Friday 16 June at 9pm on Channel 4. It will run for six episodes and feature some returning favorites as well as new additions such as Katherine Ryan and Bobby Kootstra.
Other new celebrities joining the show include naturalist Chris Packham and his stepdaughter Megan McCubbin, singer Anne-Marie and presenter Clara Amfo, actor Adrian Dunbar and his Line of Duty co-stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston, and rapper KSI and his friend S-X.
