Shoaib Malik ties knot with Pakistan actor Sana Javed
Former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has married Pakistan actor Sana Javed in a private ceremony in Karachi, two years after his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.
Malik, who has a five-year-old son with Mirza, announced his second marriage on social media on Saturday, sharing a photo of him and his bride with the caption “And We created you in pairs”.
Javed is a popular actor who has appeared in several hit drama serials and films in Pakistan. She was previously married to singer Umair Jaiswal, but they divorced in 2020.
Malik and Mirza had tied the knot in Hyderabad, India, in April 2010, and lived in Dubai. However, their marriage ended in a ‘khula’, a form of divorce initiated by the wife in Islamic law, in 2022, following rumours of differences and conflicts between them.
Malik, who is still an active cricketer, has played 35 Tests, 287 ODIs and 116 T20Is for Pakistan, and is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world. He has also captained Pakistan in all three formats of the game.
Mirza, who retired from tennis last year, is one of India’s most successful sportspersons, having won 43 WTA doubles titles and one singles title. She is also a former world number one in women’s doubles.
Malik and Sana Javed have received congratulatory messages from their fans and friends on social media, wishing them a happy married life.
